Owing to its location, Paris has a temperate, oceanic climate; it sits on the banks of the river Seine and is also known as the City of Lights. For most people visiting Paris, a short stay is often the way they first see the city; if you have more time, it will make for a remarkable holiday, with many great sites to see.
It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre must not go unmentioned.
Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; the Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.
You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high; there are only a few places in the city where it isn't visible. In the evening the illumination means it can be seen for many miles; guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.
On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants. This avenue is well worth a visit to see how the wealthy live; the exclusive five star hotels situated in this more select part of the city might be out of most visitors' price range.
This city is also the home to the renowned Louvre Museum; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. On a Paris short stay vacation it would be easy to spend entire weekend here; some of the most important art collections in the world are here including Leonardo da Vinci's world famous Mona Lisa. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world's famous artists; the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.
The famous 19th century edifice built on Napoleons instructions, the Arc de Triomphe, is also in Paris; the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those 'must have' photo land marks. Many people do not know that an observatory was included in the design which affords great views of the surrounding area; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.
You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. A Paris short stay vacation will probably be best suited as just a taster of the city; a longer break here will be necessary if you really want to experience everything this wonderful city has to offer.
Experience Paris, even if its only for a short stay
